Report from volunteering with Polish Horses.
The second week of winter holidays is underway in Podlasie.
We decided to use this time and spend a week together with tennagers at the PTOP field station in Kalitnik.
With PTOP employees we gatheredin a group of 10 people.
During these few days we managed to:
- deworm over 80 adult horses - we gave them anti-worm paste. Some horses eagerly ate, others ran away, the record holder avoided putting the halter on her head for 1.5 h. One of the photos shows a bug that 'came out' of the horse the next day after receiving the paste,
- the male part of the group installed a new gate and repaired fences,
- we distributed 40 animals to the target winter quarters - these are various reshuffles and changes to make it easier for us to work with horses in the next grazing season,
- we cleaned up the stable - a few hours of shoveling manure into a wheelbarrow,
- we cleared snow from the roundpen,
- and we worked with young horses that need to be tamed and accustomed to human presence.
