Get involved in Curlew protection!

All lovers of Curlews are invited to participate in the LIFEkulikPL (trans. LIFEcurlewPL) project. Your task is “Completing the state of knowledge about the occurrence of the Eurasian Curlew in Poland”. It takes the form of citizen science and will be implemented between 2025 and 2027.

We have selected 150 areas for you to inspect. You will conduct field work using a simplified methodology. Your goal is to check the presence of Eurasian Curlews during the breeding season in selected areas. The results will help add to the state of knowledge about the species’ distribution in Poland. The idea behind the task is not to learn the exact numbers of the Eurasian Curlew in selected areas, but to identify locations worth checking in the years to follow (inventories).

A single area to be inspected is a 2x2 km square. You can find a preview of the squares by clicking the link below. The squares marked in red are already occupied. We encourage you to inspect at least two adjacent squares.

Then apply through the form available online: https://form.jotform.com/243532555998067. After receiving your application, we will reserve the selected squares for you and contact you.

We will cooperate on the basis of a volunteer service agreement. According to it, each volunteer will receive reimbursement for the cost of travel to selected squares and a T-shirt with the project's logo. You must be an adult to enter into a contract. If you are under 18 years of age, you can only take part in the action under the supervision and in the presence of an adult.

Upon completion of the task, we will draw attractive prizes among volunteers working on the project. Each control area is one lottery ticket, by controlling more areas you increase your chances of winning!
